Ace Week - last full week of October

Ace Week (formerly known as Asexual Awareness Week) is an annual campaign that takes place during the last full week of October. It originated in 2010, when activist Sara Beth Brooks started Asexual Awareness Week to raise awareness and education about asexuality and identities on the ace spectrum.

The purpose is twofold:

• To celebrate the success and community that has emerged within the ace world - people who identify as asexual, demisexual, gray-sexual, and others have found voices, communities, and platforms to be open in.

• Increasing understanding and acceptance of ace identities, breaking down myths and prejudices about asexuality (e.g. that it is 'wrong' or something you just 'grow out of').

Ace Week encourages Ace people and their allies to create dialogues, participate in events, share experiences and spread knowledge - all to make it easier for more people to feel seen, understood and treated right in their everyday lives.
