Gender neutral marriage - May 1, 2009
On May 1, 2009, the new Marriage Act entered into force in Sweden. The decision, taken by the Swedish Parliament on April 1 of that year, made it possible for two people of the same sex to marry on the same terms as everyone else. A historic day for love - and an important step towards equality and everyone's right to choose who they want to share their life with.
