"Öckerö Pride was formed as a backlash in the spring of 2016. The counter-reaction was that the citizens of Öckerö municipality raised their voices and started pride flags on private land because the municipality made a decision not to hoist the pride flag.
May 26, 2017 the world's first Öckerö Pride and cultural event was launched and it was an event of all expectations! The politicians changed their decision to flag the pride flag and decided that our day would be an official flag day.
The success has continued. Öckerö Pride and Cultural Calendar 2018 were so outstandingly successful! A lot of people, lots of sunshine, a lot of singing and entertainment, but above all a lot of joy and love! We really feel that there is a need for a Pride event in Öckerö municipality. "
