Pride flags

The Prideflag was created in San Francisco, USA in the 1970s by Gilbert Baker, encouraged by Harvey Milk. Until then, the pink triangle was often used as a symbol of the HBTQ movement, but they both wanted a new symbol, created by their own movement and freed from the memory of the Holocaust. Baker himself said that "we needed something beautiful. Something from us"

Originally, the rainbow flag had eight colors (the colors in bold are the colors found in the pride flag today):
pink for sexuality, red for light, orange for healing, yellow sun, green for nature calm, turquoise for art, indigo for harmony and violet for others. The red color should be upwards.

Rosa was taken early because it was difficult to find a commercially viable method of printing it on fabric. Indigo was removed because an even number of colors worked better in practical terms when dividing the flag on two sides of a street under the pride parade.
